Do you feel like your voice has reached a plateau, you’re stuck and you don’t know how to move forward? Do you think you’re just not meant to sing certain songs? Do you have limitations with you song or style choices because you lack the technical expertise?
I can help you to build and develop your voice if…
- it cracks easily or you have to push and strain to reach high notes
- you feel you have little control over your voice and it’s unreliable
- it’s weak and lacks power, strength and stamina
- your range is very limited and you stay stuck in a “safe” singing range
How would you like to have a powerful, natural and effortless voice, that sounds like you, not mimicking someone else? To have access to your full range, so you can confidently sing from the bottom to the top with ease? Or for your voice to be functioning so well you can focus 100% on delivering the song with pure emotion?
This is all possible. I won’t lie, singing requires dedication, commitment and a regular practice of scales and exercises which admittedly isn’t that exciting compared to singing your favourite song. But this is what builds your voice, maintains its flexibility and power and what gets it functioning from it’s optimal place (think of it like going to the gym, you don’t go once or twice and then never work out again to maintain a great shape). Vocal cords are just another muscle…but a delicate, very small muscle that needs building in a very specific way.
From here stylistically the world is your oyster and singing songs becomes a joy. Whether you want to “belt” out your favourite show tune, go for a more edgy, soulful RnB sound or deliver a wispy, ethereal acoustic number.
It’s all possible but you have to build your voice from the ground up and get it functioning properly first. Maintain this and then watch it blossom and bloom. It will take you to places you musically never thought you could go and you will be free to connect emotionally to what you’re singing. I would love to guide you on that journey.
How I work…
All new students must first have a trial lesson to ensure the fit is right for both of us. You can schedule this time below. Please contact me if you can’t find a time that suits and I’ll do my best to accommodate you.
The trial lesson is for 30 minutes and costs $60. This can be credited towards future lessons if we continue to work together. It will involve a voice assessment, chat about your goals / aspirations and a mini lesson to show you how I’d work with your voice. It can be taken in person or via Skype.
Skype lessons are more effective and popular than you might think (I even have my own lessons on Skype with my teachers in the US). A high-speed internet connection is needed plus an audio and video enabled webcam. For more information please contact me.
24 hour Cancellation Policy
My time is valuable and so is yours. Lessons not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance will be charged at full rate.
In all circumstances payment is required no later than 24 hours before the lesson, if not I assume the lesson is no longer wanted. Payment can be paid by direct bank transfer (please contact me) or Paypal.
Following your trial lesson, we can discuss the best option for you. Generally I advise having lessons at least fortnightly to begin with, until the technique becomes more automatic, as we are building new muscle memory patterns. All lessons are recorded for your home practice.
