I have a unique approach to working with clients on their voice. Whether you come to me to develop your speaking or singing voice, the coaching principles remain the same - we must uncover what is unconsciously holding you back from the voice you desire.
As Carl Jung famously said, "until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will see it as fate."
Awareness always precedes change. If we don't examine this aspect of your mind, we're really just working on the surface when technically building the voice. Your vocal results will be limited or you'll just revert back to your old way of doing things.
You have created the voice you "want", in some way it's protecting you - whether it's weak, quiet, powerless, fast, nasal, strained, unexpressive or inarticulate. So if you're not getting the results you want, we must look at why you would create that.
In Jungian terms, we examine the persona you've created (recognising your voice is a part of that persona or mask we show to the world) and what has been rejected and pushed into the shadow. Often our biggest gifts and talents live in the shadow and we tell ourselves it's not the right time, I'll never be a performer or I'm just not a public speaker. This ensures these gifts never surface and forever remain suppressed.
Vocal technique is also very important and plays a key part in the training. We need to learn how our voice functions and how to "play" this incredible instrument.
By combining this new awareness of our mind with vocal technique, a lasting transformation of your voice can occur.
